Festae in 75g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Right, so you used the 125 essentially as a growout, as most of us have been telling the OP to do.

Where in my post did I say anything about recommending against a growout tank? I said ADULT pair. You've made this personal by mentioning my fish that have nothing to do with this topic and now you're just grasping for straws. Get over it, you're just making yourself look bad. If you have a different opinion, just state it, you don't have to resort to personal attacks (that aren't even true to begin with) on others because you feel threatened.

Guys guys i really would not like this thread to become personal. Thank you everyone who has responded up until now! I really appreciate all the info given and i think after hearing the info ill try my hand at festae using my 75g as a growout, money isnt a problem its just finding a good deal on a tank that i care about =)

Yes, they do grow slow. However, the smaller the tank, the higher agression will be. I would just go for the 125g now. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get one at a reasonable price when you do need it. Plus, the more room you have the faster they will grow. Water quality will be better, less maintanence, and less agression. Just better all in all to go all the way in the beginning if you can.

lol wow, I guess it is a little personal...for you.

Anyway I've stated my stance...Festae grow slow, and the 75 would work for probably well over a year. In the long run, something bigger.

Seriously, quit trolling tough guy. You're not impressing anyone. You can PM me if you want to be a man about it.

Not many get to 16", in fact I haven't seen any that size yet. More closer to 12-14" either way it depends on how well the pair is bonded. They do grow slow so actually a 75 will work for a couple years maybe longer. I know of a few people who have done it with a 75 and in fact I've had most of my success breeding festae in 4' tanks. I do feel better giving them larger tanks in the long run tho.

Sounds like good info .

I was really hoping once mine grow, my 135 would be big enough for a pair. doesnt sound like it though.

guess I'll have to rethink things for the future and commit my 180 to them eventually

IMO, no, a 75 is not adequate for anything other than a growout.

And maybe if folks kept them in proper sized quarters we would see 15" festae more often. Just a thought

That was what I was implying earlier. I think enough opinions have been given though, don't want to add anything else to this thread.
