Festae issue!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
WOW! .........Festae aren't considered one of the top 10 most aggressive cichlids for nothing - did you expect anything less............really now? I did.

Lotsa trial and error on my part - introducing a female to male with no divider 'cause I'm a knucklehead like that, has led to several dead festae both male and female.
Introducing festae into a peaceful co-habitat with no divider has lead to numerous various cichlid deaths including 3 GT's, Chocolate, Jag, JD,4 Oscar,Blue Acara,2 convicts, Ringtail pike, firemouth - the relocation of 2 Reddevils, Cyano, Carpintis,Dovii, soon to be Gold dust bichar and the death of 2 festae at the mouth of a salvini.

My knucklehead learned Festae don't mix well.

I bought a fry of 8 Festae ( as advised and I listened ) .........now down to 1 male 5 females because I gave the 2 other males away - live in harmony.

Yeah well the festae I had in there prior was harmonious and similar size as the new one, just no were near as aggressive or confident!

Anyway there were no casualties last night, hope it stays that way till I discover some more tank space elsewhere.

Shes climbed the ladder and is now co-owner of the tank with the 9.5" polleni whom she 'tollerates'. So hopefully everyone just gives her space. Either way it was ****ing impressive seeing a fish work its way up the cichlid ladder in 15mins... pretty jawdropping to see a nearly 8" dempsey back down to a 4.5" festae..
