Festae?? Need some experts..

I just recently got burned buying fry from what was supposed to be a reputable LFS. Me and a friend went in, he asked if they had any Festae and we were directed to this tank where there were 3 of these left and I got 2 of them. A week later I went back to the same LFS and they had more. So I made a comment that it was weird seeing Festae in a LFS and a different guy working told me they were NOT Festae, but were urophthalmus aka Mayans. This is 2 back to back buys I was burned on now and it's really soured me on the hobby. I'm on the verge of just getting rid of everything.

He's right. Trust me, I know the feeling. The end result of a beautiful Festae swimming in your tank is well worth the present drama. Sometimes its worth the higher prices and shipping fees to order from truly reputable sources. Good luck and don't give up.balton777;4552008;4552008 said:

It's hard to not get discouraged. I got burned 2 times back to back. Once with overpaying for a Carpinitis that wasn't even what it was supposed to be. Though, it's still a beauty, it's not what I wanted. Now I'm stuck with 2 ugly Mayan's. They're too small to do anything with. The messed up part is they're selling these fish as Red Terrors and not Mayans. This is supposed to be one of the best LFS's in SE Michigan too. I've had better luck at getting good fish from a hole in the wall store than these supposed "great stores".

My original plan was to get an Escondido from Rapps, I should have stuck to that plan instead of getting this whatever the heck it is Carpintis from the one LFS. I definitely wont go back to either for my fish. The one place sells bulk food pretty cheap so I'll go there to get that.... but that's it.

I was gonna get a breeding pair of gold severums for $40 but instead got a small discus. Turned out the discus was stunted and so I returned it and got no money back. Spent $50 on fish that day and no longer have any of them.

I just think any fish I buy in the future, if I don't just give up on it... will be ordered through Rapps or some other reputable vendor online. Yea, I'll have to wait on it a couple days. But I'd atleast know I'm getting what I'm paying for and not getting a whatsit?!?!
