I voted Festae. Although I like both, IMO Festae are more owner responsive than Dovii, and also more prettier. Yes you have a better chance having a Festae in a community tank than a Dovii. Although you can have a Dovii in a community tank, it will depend on the Dovii's personality and also you will have more success starting your community fish out when they are small... But IMO for 180 tank Festae is the best choice for a community tank.

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.

Those are my two favorite cichlids...I can't decide. :wall:

I guess that's why I keep both.

Same as mate... I could never get rid of either...

if you like both so much you could try a male dovii and a female festae. they might get along. i think balton has female festae in with his dovii. its probably a 50/50 chance though.

Festae. Get a breeding pair.

Leave the dovii to someone with a larger tank.

I think that's a good point. Although a male Festae will grow quite large, it's not as big as a Dovii so will fit your 180g better in the long run.

Not anymore, the pair of Festae now have thier own tank. Acutally I have 2 males and 2 females together but trying to sell the smaller male and female. (See link in my sig)

I have a female festae right just starting to color up. Would love to find her a mate. for my 150

Thanks so much for helping me with this ***** of a decision. I'll be keeping all 3 festae to grow out and hopefully get a pair.

The dovii with the 2 smaller festae (residing in a 70liter 2foot) is already slamming himself against the festae and his frayed most of their tails. I think I bit off more then I could chew with the dovii... never thought id say this but I think they're maybe a little too preditory for me :/

Thanks again guys!

Every fish is different but your odd's of keeping a large Dovii with other fish in a 180 is nearly 0%.
