if you still like them, you should keep them...they might not be at the same level, but mayans are attractive, large aggressive fish that are a nice addition nonetheless

Definitely true.

My comment wasn't against the fish, but the lfs. They might have an excuse to see them as red terrors, but to label them as festae is just plain wrong.

It's a common mistake in many pet shops they are in fact myan cichlids. IMO they are not as cool as festae

yep....mayans! The spot is quite large. Almost bought some a while ago at a LFS, but the large spot really killed it for me. I have raised Mayans before and they arent that bad to raise. They are really pretty too.

Thats a bummer. A lfs near me was selling mayans as gold severums! They weren't trying to pass them off though they just don't have anyone there that knows anything about fish!!
