Festae or Peacock bass

If you have no intention of breeding get a single male or maybe two females. Three of any cichlid especially of the same species usually ends badly unless they are all the same sex

I'd vote Festae for life, but if its a male, thats even a bit tight once fully mature. Our 13" male does not play well in 18" wide tanks. He can survive just fine, but any tankmate(s) would be in trouble.

If it's a grow out situation, than pick the fish u like the most. Either will be happy in there for quite awhile.
 
Not sure how familiar peeps on this forum are with Cichla, but they are one of the most exciting fish ypu can keep in an aquaria!! And color is not that shabby either!! They have personality size and hit food like no othwer fish! Tank size is the only obaticle.

Well, in this case, Festae is the only obstacle lol.

Nothing rivals IMO. P bass are beautiful but .....,

I just got my first pair of ecuador festae and let me say that they are becoming my favourite, they have tested my patience and are rewarding me greatly! Both are different amd both are great choices
