What size tank, and do you just keep the pair? I've been reading up on these guys, and other big aggressive cichlids, and I realize the males can be tough on their mates... would it be possible to keep a harem with a male?

I'm actually working on a harem right now. this is a 125. I keep them with silver dollars. Covetous u know it, well not every festae pair....but these 2....can't beat it

That's very true... I know this from personal experience with some very lackluster Festae. Lol

That's cool! Please keep this thread going with updates on the harem... Nearly everything I've found online says to keep singly or in mated pairs... But nearly everything I've read also says the males are very hard on their mates... If a harem works to suspense aggression it would be very cool!

UPDATE TIME! I will get more/better pics today when I get home. They are gearing up to spawn again, biggest female is full spawning dress but the mid-sized one also looks to be getting ready, so we will see.
