Festae- Quality VS Trash!!

I think all the knowledge getting dropped on here is being overlooked. Lots of great info here and im for sure learning new stuff from this thread. I am glad jason has such high standards which represents the cichlids he passes through the hobby. He is very passionate and it obviously bothers him that these deformed festae are being sold when he works so hard and im sure unloads lots of money to keep, breed and sell the highest quality fish that he can get. which i respect as thats what i want from a breeder i buy fish from. And the best thing is that no matter what hes gonna do his best to keep up the good work hes doing passisng around very desireable and high quality fish to people in the hobby. Great thread:)

And i know im one of many who want to see how those umbee turn out :)

I have to agree with fishman I have bought from Jason before and all of the transactions went smooth. He is honest about what he sells and is a straight forward guy. He is also very knowledgeable I don't see why people are hating?

I agree with the statement in bold here. Jason, you come off as an arrogant know it all when you post things like this thread. If someone buys another of your fish (regardless of how beautiful and healthy they are) for your ridiculous prices, well they're just foolish. Because let's not forget you bragging about selling your Festae for so much an inch and once they're sexed the prices would go up depending on male or female. I do respect the fact you're trying to get some better quality fish out in the hobby, but your attitude about it is a turn off. I'd never buy fish from you for many reasons, biggest being you live in Alaska and I'm in Detroit. Shipping would cost me 3 times what the fish are worth. While in most cases it is true (there is always a diamond in the rough in everything) that you get what you pay for... It's not always true in the fish keeping world. If you're patient, ask around and more importantly look around... you'd be amazed at what you can find in LFS and chain stores.

Example, I wanted Jack Dempsey's when I first started keeping Cichlids because I liked the way they looked and still do. Problem was, a lot of places had poor selection. I happened to go in the biggest hole in the wall LFS in my area and found some of the nicest I'd seen. So I took a chance and got them... 6 for 12 dollars. They were all an inch or two in size and had great potential. I'm pretty sure everyone on here has seen them, they turned out to be some of the best looking I've seen. Did I get lucky? Sure. Sometimes you win and sometimes you get burned.

well you obviously cant read!! If you go back to the very first post you will see that it says no personal attacks!! And you crossed the line pal. You can sit there and run your mouth all you like about me or whoever else you want to talk trash about but all that does is make you look bad. you think its a one way street here with how you feel about me?? well news break the feeling is mutual. I had my own reasons for not selling to you. And you got butthurt and are trying to burn me.. LOL Whatever bro, theres always the big boy options, pm me, call me, or just keep your mouth shut!! Yeah, im sure i do come across as arrogant. but when someone takes as much pride as i do about my fish then you too would take offense when people troll, make personal attacks, and having to repeat myself when trying to get a point across. its very frustrating.You have no clue what your talking about when with my umbees!!! its obvious with your example.. cutteri and convicts. I mean come on, its not like im trying to breed blue umbees to panama greens LOL these are both blue umbees. so get over yourself. this is my project not yours.
AGAIN i am not marketing any of my stuff. Do you have any idea how much time and money i have put into my stock??? that is mostly the reason for my prices. and if you were to actually look around outside of detroit, you will find that my prices are very compatible. Plus during the summer months my shipping for fry is cheaper if not the same as anywhere else. If people dont want to buy from me then that is all good with me, there is always something out there for someone else. i am not forcing my stuff on anyone. and lets remember that most of what i have was someone elses lines and those lines are going for the same prices if not more than mine. So yeah other than you dont like me, You have nothing!!! so when your done trolling, id prefer if you got off my thread:)!!!So moving on.....

No, I didn't cross a line nor did I personally attack you in anyway, nor was I trolling. But I will now. Remember when my friend and I were going to buy the last of your "personal stash of Festae babies" that conveniently died when your phone broke at the same time... that a week or 2 later were being offered up to another member on here as a part of the deal with your Haitians? Yet you told me you didn't have any more period. So not only did you back out of a deal, you lied. All you proved to me was that if a better deal for you financially comes along you'll screw whoever it is for a buck. I didn't exactly get butthurt at the time, it wasn't until I saw your Haitians for sale and that you threw those Festae in that it bothered me. I'm pretty sure anyone that was in that situation I was in would have been as well. BTW, I still had the PM in my inbox from you saying they died and compared it to your post with the Haitians. It was a week or 2 tops apart. Had it been 6 months, well then I would have believed you. Anyway, have fun playing God with your Umbees to make a dollar because you clearly missed my point.

I always say if your gonna screw up then make it count, dont play peek-a-boo. but now that you insist on trolling and trying to ruffle my feathers, you can gladly see your way out of my thread!! and that lil interpretaion of how things went down between us is not entirely correct. I work out of town, and i contacted you to hook you up with festae cause i saw that you were looking. I WENT OUT ON A LIMB AND CONTACTED YOU. then after i got home, i discovered that i had some losses due to conspecific aggression. so i called you and told you that i couldnt sell cause all i had left was a dozen that im keeping for myself. you then threw a fit like a little girl and called me names and said my fish was trash lol then had your lil buddy try pm'ing me oh so 007, like i was stupid asking me for fry LOL. the deal with the haits was set up prior to you then it fell thru so i worked out another deal. if you wouldnt have thrown such a nasty lil fit, then you might have my festae in your tanks. but im glad i got to see your tru colors!! so yeah, ill never sell you anything!! And i didnt miss your point about the umbees, you apparantly have a hard time reading. Im not trying to make profit.i also dont take advice from people who dont know what their talking about mr 2 yr vet!! so keep on TROLLING elsewhere!!!

And to the comment someone mentioned about festae now being like umbees in the hobby and being a HOT item... well festae are not close to the same population in the hobby as umbees. Umbees may be closer to Jags and being over run with. Festae have hit the ground in decent numbers this last year but not that close. and as far as i remember, Festae have always been a Hot item???

How can my feelings get hurt when nothing I have said in here has been proven wrong lol, nor do I have anything to lose, I don't even own Festae. On the contrary, I have talked to a few very knowledgeable people in here (which I'm not) that were thinking exactly the same thing I said, the difference is they shut up to avoid drama, I didn't. Getting under your skin? Are we still talking about fish here? lmao. Nah, seriously, do I think you're a good fish-keeper? totally; would I recommend someone to do business with you? definitely. But none of that makes you right, make of it what you want.

Now let's get back to the discussion about how Festae deformities are ground-breaking and leave the personal stuff aside. :)
