Not very. just avoid extremes.
My water is about 7.6 and pretty hard and I’ve never had any problems.

The pH range of Rio Tumbes (where they are endemic) is about 7.8 to 8.2, so they should do well in neutral to hard water.
Mine did well in my 7.8 mineral rich tap water.
Looking at your photo, seems you will need some better/tighter hide outs for the female than there are there now.

Overall yes.
They aren’t the glass bangers a jag, midevil, flowerhorn can be.
They are a little fearful at first.
Once they settle in and get used to the new environment they will be more bold and trusting of you being around.
