Festae, Tetracanthus, Escondido, Managuense

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it is possible with a female festae, male managuense, male escondido and male tetracanthus,

we cannot guarentee anything as each fish is individual and has diferent levels of aggression

Great advice.

I would definately go with the female festae for the color.
It is very hard to determine the sex of an oscar and is doesn't really matter.
Everything else male because they are larger, and generally have better coloring.

Nobody mentioned anything about an oscar. Infact an oscar in a tank with that lineup would most likely get owned.

get them all as juvies and at the same time should work-I might even recommend adding a 5th mid sized cichlid to spread the aggression more.

cons as dithers?

It will be trial and error. You will never know for sure until you try. The Escondido should be okay but the festae and jag could cause problems. I've never had a tetracanthus. You just don't see them in this area.

I can't speak about all cubans, but mine are very territorial. They're also tough little suckers. my 4" cuban keeps my 5" rtm in check. The meanest fish I ever owned was a carpintis. Any way you look at it, the combination you want to run is going to be a risky propisition, but I've read about people who have gotten by with rough setups like that before. Just make sure there are enough places for fish to hide, I recommend silver dollars as dither fish (convicts would just add aggression to an already aggressive tank), and enjoy.

I thoght you meant the 6.5'' Albino Oscar
At the bottom of your listing.

understandable confusion, but no the oscar will be living in peace in my other tank with a dempsey and a Redspot severum.
