Festae Udate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just...wow. I really love those deep bright red colors...just amazing. I'd get a festae or two if I didn't think they'd kill my lil EBJDs.

Beautiful fish

That is probably the most intense red i've ever seen on a festae !
Even when mine are in breeding dress they aren't that brilliant. Nice work Balton.

Dave

Me too. She's only been this red for the last few days.

THE nicest pair of Festae that I've seen on this forum, hands down!!! Have you always kept them alone?

Thanks flowerpower. I've never kept them alone except the female while she was healing. I recently took a Grammodes out of thier tank and added two smaller Bocourtii. Other tankmates are a 15" Tigrinus, a few SD's and Tinfoil barbs.

She is such a stunner! Intense doesn't do her justice:)

lol I know. Even last time she bred she wasn't such a rich dark red color as now.

Wow Balton those are some sexae festae!!

I can't believe that female survived that??? what did that to her, another festae??

Thanks. She was traded in to the lfs out of a tank full of other Festae. To get that beaten up, I imagine there must have been some breeding going on.

I think EBJD may be a little fragile for Festae. Mine keep killing my tinfoil barbs.

thanx!!

Holy Moly!!!!!! VERY NICE JOB on the pair. Are you still keeping the same feeding schedule?

The lil ones I picked up from your hook up are doing well. They are growing pretty well, about 3.5" - 4.5" now. Hopefully these will not end up with an ill fate (I keep kicking myself with steel toed pointed cowboy boots on) like my last ones.

Again, very very very nice

For those who don't remember, the female is the Festae I got at the LFS who was all beat up with large chunks of meat taken out of her. She's healed up pretty good with hardly any scarring but I guess she'll never get her front stipes back. She's not the most beautiful Festae but I have a soft spot for her lol.

I bred the male myself and raised him from an egg. :)

The female is about 8.5-9" and the male about 9.5-10".

They're both beautiful and the scars give her character.

I'm a huge Parachromis fan, but I think my next fish is going to be a Festae.

Go for a pair. :)

But hopefully she's not emotionally scarred from the trauma. :grinno:

Seriously though, thanks for the comment.

Thanks Larry, I appreciate you saying so...and you should post pics of your Festae growouts soon. I'd really love to see them.

:):):)

I'll see if I can get some pics of my growouts. It is hard to catch them in the tub I have them in. I just need to go ahead and break down and get a 10-20 gallon growout tank

Hey Balton.

Quick question is the male overly aggressive during breeding, in particular to her ?

Looking for a male for my girl and wondering if i'll need a divider.
