I'm no festae expert, but it could actually be two males. Subdominant males tend to sometimes wear the bars in the presence of another male. Now i'm not saying you have two males, just saying it's a possibility, and you should vent them if you want to be sure

I agree about venting them just to be sure for yourself. But im going to stick to my guns on this one, cause by the way the male was showing off and the other wasnt running or had pinned fins tells me that it is a female. Thats why i said earlier about you having both in the video instead of just the one. otherwise i would be unsure and prolly thinking male myself due to the barring. they look to be 4-5"?? I believe if it was two males the sub would give way every time the dom came around and would most likely find a hiding spot to duck out. this one did no such thing nor did it try to fight. she lowered her head a lil in submission but didnt give way untill the Jewel swam by then she moved like a sub fish.
Yeah you're probably right. I don't have an opinion on the sex myself, i was just pointing out the possibility of him waiting endlessly for fry from two males without venting

Very nice looking pair, congrats. By the way those two are behaving i would say that you definitely have a male and female, and it does look like they are showing interest. so good luck with pairing them off. If you would have just posted a pic or video of just the female, i would have said 50/50 but by having the male in with her made it much easier for me. I picked up a few myself from Chris and they are looking good too. Im excited to see how all his offspring turns out. so keep posting the updates
