Festae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had a male Festae in a large community for about 18 months now and not many issues with him at all. They get along fine as far a cichlids go, lol. As for a pair?? I never bought a female for him just because of the fear of disturbing the harmony in my tank. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies !

Oh well, if i can't keep anything with them, i will have to convince the wife that i need another tank

I have just spent a while watching these new Festae and a couple of them seem to have swollen bottom lips. It doesn't seem to be fungal (I'm not ruling it out) They were overnighted to me, and were all in the same bag, could they have had a fight in the bag ? Or should i treat them with anything just incase ?

I have tried to get pictures, but i can't get any that are clear enough. My camera is not very good and the fish are so small.

Would appreciate some advice,

I know it's hard without pictures and i have tried but i just can't get any that show the problem, with the fish being so small and skittish. I have looked at some google images for Columnaris, but again there is nothing that looks like this. Their fins are all intact, they are swimming around fine. They seem perfectly healthy other than the fact a few of them have swollen white lips.

I'm really not too sure if they have just had a fight on route, but i am a little worried about them,.

I would wait for now if they look healthy other than the lip thing. Also, with out pics it will be hard to give proper advice. I would def hold off on treatment since you don't even know what your treating. Maybe it goes away in a few days. Good luck.

The vendor i got them from said that he never noticed it when he sent them to me. They arrived like it, so whatever it is has happned in transit. OR vendor is not being truthful.

My male kills everything. He kills pictus cats, giant danios, jack dempseys, etc...

When his last owner had him, he was attacking much larger P.Bass in a big tank.

He's a mean SOB.

Seems like it's really going to depend on the individual fish.
