Yes your Ph is perfect, I wouldn't touch your Ph as it's very close to their natural ph..They can handle 6-8 and remember they are south American not African.

I agree. Some people will disagree and say they need a ph of 7+. The geographical difference between CA and SA is that there a lot of limestone in CA. I believe Africa has a lot of limestone too.
SA rivers and lakes also typically have a lot of leaf litter which makes water more acidic through decomposition.
