They get 6"-8" SL, depending on species and sex. Nearly impossible to tell species, and I can't find my guide on how to do it atm. Treat like more assertive angels though, they do like to be in groups ... but do squabble more than a group of angels would. Dithers would help, but like angels will snack on smaller ones so stick to high bodied tetras like lemons, bleeding hearts, ect.

More of a severum temprement than an angelfish, definately from the Menosauta complex, not an angelfish.

Don't think it's a festivum persay, but common name is what everything from that complex is sold as.

I have two that look exactly the same, my tank is plant less and they growth rate is very slow. Mine love to eat Krill.

On the other hand a friend of mine put 2 of those on a planted tank and their growth rate is much faster. I will be putting in some plants for those like guys on my tank.

Agreed with everybody. The ones I've kept had a lot more silver with a pronounced black stripe, way different coloration than the vertical stripes I see on yours. But festivum nonetheless. I'd say a bit more peaceful than a severum but scrappier than an angel for sure, I've kept large adults with oscars and jd's with no problems, but they will chase/nip smaller cichlids. Fin nipping is the extent of it though, they don't really have the mouth to do serious damage.

Nice fish btw, it's a small one I guess? Like to see pics when it gets big, the ventral fin extensions will get nice and long.

The body markings appear to be stress markings, very similar to my H. temporalis when he's stressed. The Rio Tapajos variety on Cichlid-Forum is also in breeding dress so ultimately ID'ing the fish is difficult until it's settled in more.
