Few Pics for you reptile fans

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bet it was a hard job gettting his license for them. What crocodilian is that? A species of caiman?

As long as you supply correct enclosures etc the DWA isn't as hard as most people think to get. In all honesty I think that its TOO easy here in the UK to get one. The cost is one thing that deters alot of people and it varies from region to region. Jessica the croc in these pics is a dwarf caiman..

I've always thought about getting a license in the future (Im only 16 at the moment) after becoming more experienced etc. Wouldnt be after anything venemous I dont think, just a dwarf caiman or something But its a while off I think. What about secure enclosures etc in rented accomadation (that of course, has other reptiles allowed anyway)?
cheers

I have always thought about it too but never done it.I've kept reptiles for 17 years now and always contemplated it but for one I don't have the space and 2 I have access to quite a few peoples collections that do keep them and for me that is almost as good!

that must be great. No one else i know keeps reptiles, except for a cousin i never ever see. What do you think about the rented accomadation?

It would be down to your landlord first and foremost..I'm not making assumptions but I would maybe wait a few years and see if you still want a DWA..there are plenty of other challenging and beautifull species you could try first to gain some experience in dealing with feisty herps! Some of the asian ratsnakes make great display snakes and will really keep you on your toes when tending to thier needs. Another is the false water cobras,i used to keep one and they are certainly a snake to get the adrenalin pumping!lol..

Yeah i know obviously i need more experience but its always good to be prepared. Arent false water cobras semi poisonous?

Yes they are rear fanged...but they really have to get a good chew on you to have any effect although saying that I have heard of people having reactions to their bite..There was talk of them going on the dwa but it never happened.

Nice dwa pics stu. Really nice collection. I thought i heard they were going to review the DWAA lists soon (might have been this month). Have you heard anything about this?
