I agree with the addition of another cannister filter. No such thing as too much filtration. Down the road you might consider another! I really like the emperor 400 as it moves a lot of water, has two bio wheels and is very easy to change the filters. I may have missed it but we don't know the bottom dimentions of your tank which might change the amounts of substrate you utilize. I think the thickness of the sand is more important than the pounds.
My tank is a standard 75 gallon (48 x 18 x 18 I think). Im going nuts buying things...lol....I decided to use Aragonite sand from Caribsea and Im going to put a few bags of crushed coral in the filters. I bought 2 fluval e series heaters instead of the marineland stealth heaters. I dont know what lighting to use. I dont want to spend a lot on lighting which of these 2 should I get........... really no need for T5 lights..... Yes they look better, but dont need the brightness.
I want brightness. These arent as pricey as others and there within my budget

:WHOA: I almost forgot....Just ordered some decals for my tank :headbang2

As far the variant I think I will do tropheus duboisi. I'm using 30 pounds of aragonite mixed with 30 pounds of Estes sand with crushed coral filtered thru the canisters. Its either lace rock or Texas holey, which ever I can get cheaper in my area. Black background, 2 fluvals 405 and a 305, 2 200 watt fluval e series heaters and for lighting theres a link above to the fixture I ordered (T5)

Fiinally got my tank up and running this afternoon. :nilly::nilly:
