-great collection; not sure of your filtration, but yeah, that tank is grossly overstocked.--

thanks sol. my filtration is a 40 gal sump with about 500gph for it with an oddassy 700( i have the flow reduced until i find a higher flow rate hob overflow) as a return pump. the oddassy is filed with biomedia along with the sump i also hae spongefilters in the sump. i also have a fx5 on the tank. live plants out the top with the roots hanging in are also present. i monator the perams and do large wc often. the most my nitrates get is 30ppm since the trops addition. i am going to add more plants to counter that.

good plan. it sounds like the filtration is set for the tank, i guess my other concern (and probably main one) is the crowding...with gars it can keep them in order to an extent, but in most cases it can lead to broken backs pretty quickly with spook-factor. i'm not trying to pick on you or anything as i have definitely kept some gars in crowded conditions in the past, just speaking from my own experience and hoping other avoid the issues. best of luck...i will unfortunately be parting with most of my gars in the very near future (some to a bigger "tank" others in the collection will be re-homed) --

i dont feel i am being picked on. i have been watching them close. i have been out of work since the 8th with a foot injury. i have started to feed from multipule spots in the tank to spread them out during feedings. that is when they seem most likly to suffer an injury. i jave also taken my smallest lng out, more for fear of it being as my wife called it "spagetti" and debating on taking the next smallest lng out. other then that every great once and a while the bigest trop will surface under a smaller gar and it will react. as of this point all reactions have been to dive. i am keeping an eye on that issue. if it persists or increases ill do some splitting of the tank for sure.

also i saw on fb about you breaking down the tank. let me know what you are parting with and what youll need for them. i have a 125gal basically on ice right now with the lng in it and a few small fish in it. ill email you or hit you up on fb. i may be going out to shedd in the not to distant future so mayne i could pick something/s up.
