that depends on the strain of fh and quality of that piticular fish,also depends on quality of care given,water changes and good food,I have some fry showing good colors at 1.5 inches

yeah, i messed up when i bouht mine 2 years ago tong. i thought ALL fh had nice color but showed more when it became an adult. but its been sorta dull its whole life. usually if u have a good grade fh, it should already have good coloring even at 2" and it would only get better as it grows. my friends prize is amazing, showing massive color at only 2" and it just got crazier now that its about 12"

king is correct yep some dont show there color until they are much older... ALSO it depends on there diet...

mine start showing red in the dorsal fins at about 1/2".
