FH in pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If your worried about the heat issue you could use a garden shed and insulate it an put in place over the winter months as heating an outdoor pond must be pricey.

would FH adapt to colder water I would like to convert my koi pond into a FH pond...I live in northern CA the outside temp can get as low as 40-30 mid winter at night but warms up to around 50-60 in the day...are there solar heaters like the ones for pools?
right now the pond is in my front yard and I might dig a new pond in the backyard. any suggestion on size of heater? I'm think of digging a pond to be 10'x15'x3' roughly

Cross a fh female with a bluegill . Then that might work.lol.

20 deg temp jumping up and down will kill most fish if not all. So I think the plastic cover is out.

on there own no it will get way to cold

The solar heaters for pools will work just fine for a pond as long as you get one the right size you could have a very nice pond but your power bill will go up quite a bit in the winter

I already kno FH need to be in warm water...so people move on...wattage heater how much my goodness!!!!!

forgive me for trying to help. Your plan will not work, unless you are using the frys for fish food, but I will let you find that out yourself. Been there and done all that.
