Sadly I do not know what her rents or sibs look like. Although I have seen a male at a LFS that looks very similair in color and markings with a nuchal hump. I would reason to believe they are siblings as they are not very common in LFS's around this area.

I had that same thought - hybrid texas - also think there may be something else in the gene pool on him, just not sure what.

Will keep you all updated on fry.

Question - What is the typical length of egg hatch to free swimming stage on FH fry?

I have mated this male to a cichlid hybrid before (possible failed attempt at a red texas is my opinion on her) as well as having worked with several types of SA/CA cichlids, but never have I had fry take so long to use up egg sacks and begin free swimming before. The wrigglers look awfully tiny and it has been 5 days since they hatched from thier eggs. Any experience or thoughts on this?

Ups sorry didn't see this thread already reach pages 2 and you already share the parents pics brother, so I will share my point of view from the pics that you share the male looks like green texas mixed and the female are zhen zhu brother according to me the offspring not going to have a promising hump like you expected maybe but you must know flowerhorn is like a pandora box so lots of surprise and full of challenge. Thanks anyway for the share and congrats for the new frys!!!GBU

Thanks for the input jonz. So you are of the mind that offspring will not develop nuchal hump? I was leaning to this assumption as well, although I was hoping that maybe, just maybe there might be a slim chance of nuchal hump genes. I hope the surprises you mention will be forthcoming in this batch of fry. We shall see, I am thinking that the male is a result of someones efforts to breed Red Texas. not sure of the female; you say zhen zhu, can you elaborate on that and possibly post some pics?
