would i need to add to this set up?
powerhead? sterilizer?

first time keeping a FH lol..
feeding on frzn shrimp and cichlid gold
chingmix on the way!!

This is the right place, I don't know TO much about FH's but everything there sounds good except for a couple of things.

FH's don't do well with a black background, from what I've heard around this site, it washes them out. And I'm fairly certain they get to large for a 55 gallon.
 
flowerhorns prefer gravel over sand and like the guys before me said black will wash out his colors and 55 is too small for a flowerhorn for life so you might want to trade it in for something smaller or maybe get a shortbody flowerhorn.
