Over the years I have built several DYI tanks sealed with colored epoxy paint. I have found the best color to be aqua green. White is the worst it always looks dirty and unnatural. Blue is OK but somehow looks better in salt water tanks. Black is good maybe better with a lighter tile bottom to brighten it up some. My 2 cents

any pics of aqua green based fgt? i've never seen one that colour before and really can't picture it.

I'd go with either blue, green as oldfish oldfish said or if you dont like either, white. Wouldnt really go with black, dont like it at all - but its all personal preference anyway.

But yeah, blue or green would be my fav.

I'm not a fan at all in honesty of the green or blue as feel looks abit less natural.

I like white as would be a clean look to focus on rays.

But if i went black then would have to either tile or substrate to lighter base up which I was trying to avoid. But then black may make rays colour pop more!

Difficult one. Thanks all

To me the light green looks the most natural ,it looks good with little specs or a ton of algae growing on it .While white looks awful with any algae growth it's clean look disappears and it's always dirty looking .No number of plecos will fix it lol. I agree the blue looks unnatural although ok with saltwater.

I'll have to try find some pics of a green tank.

I am a bit obsessed with my tanks tho and is always spotless so like to think that I'd keep the white very clean and fresh lol
