a pretty boring game ....I use to love watching Zidane play but without him France is not the same.

If soccer was as popular as American football, I believe America would have won at least 2 World Cups already. Soccer is the only major sport that America shows no interest in. If soccer was even as popular as hockey, we would have won at least 1. Hockey is not that popular but we still do pretty good in international play and have won the gold medal in the Olympics. There wasn’t even the MLS until 15 years ago and no one even watches it. If and when America wins the World Cup, I believe soccer will explode in America and will have one of the best league in the world that will be on par with Europe.

you said it yourself man.....there will be no growth in the level of this sport in US as long as there is no public interest and I doubt that will ever change. it's cultural .....the quality of football played in MLS is beneath the second italian or spanish league.
nevertheless as far as winning the cup there will be no surprises pass the semifinal stage (never was, never will) ....it's pretty much an internal affair between the heavy hitters (Brazil, England, Spain, Argentina, Italy) and that is the logical result of excellent national leagues .
