Ok so evaporation in my tanks is probably one of my biggest pet peeves in the hobby. I cant stand it. I can keep the situation under control in my smaller tanks without any major hassle with just keeping jugs of RO water ready when needed. The problem begins when I get to my 50 gallon and I can imagine the problem would only get more annoying with larger tanks. Is there a DIY project for quick and easy refills? I have heard of certain consumer gadgets that will do it but I dred asking for what price....if anyone can help that would be awesome. Thanks!:)

The easist method for me is a python there should be a thread or two in the diy sect here easy to make one and cheaper..
I wont suggest a rip system since you have a 50g not worth the time.

cool thanks for the info!! What size tank would make a rip system worth while so to speak

what about a tite top and canister filtration

if your doing weekly water changes you should see little drop in water level

i had a 55 that would lose about 2 inches per week

so to fix this i went to lowes/homedepot and got 2 sheet of plexiglass

cut to fit tank and drilled holes for tubing and heater and one for feeding

i would cover the feeding hole with a can of food

No link rally. Also a lid is the best thing you can do. I have lidded tanks, and evaporation loss isnt a problem at all

I have some evaporation, even with lids, but not enough to be annoying.

K Rallys question.. Now that it's been up for several months... How much has your water bill raised???? :)
