Figure 8 Puffer fresh water or salt?

Their teeth become overgrown and need to be trimmed by hand with clippers. If they do not readily take to snails, this will become an issue.

hopefully i will be able to get one of these guys once i do more research and get everything setup
 
^ Actually F8's aren't that bad... as long as you give them hard shelled foods in their diet then they are fine.. its the South American Puffer that will eventually require manual dentistry, since as most people have reported... even on a constant hard shelled diet, and lots of snails, their teeth still seem to overgrow...

Infact, i think its pretty much only the SAP that is known to have dentistry problems due to their teeth growing amazingly fast compared with other puffers...

So yeah, don't worry about dentistry for now... unless you know they will never be eating any thing like crays, clams, mussels, or snails...
