went to my bait store to get some shrimp for my grouper and they had two baby files mixed in with the pinfish the guy gave them to me and i put them in my ten gallon sw tank they are bout 3in long didnt no u could catch those in florida!

I will have to see if they make it to SC I will try my cast net this weekend.
A friend of mine just gave me a 75 gal--Me thinks I need a indigenous tank next!
 
i catch a lot of different kind's of file fish here in NY. If you post a pic or discribe it i will be able to id it for you
 
I live in pinellas and catch em all the time intarpon springs. Fred Howard park. I throw my castnet into the grass beds and get all kinds of cool stuff. I've had baby trout, flounder, and permit in my tanks. I catch file fish, pipe fish, sea horses different types of shrimp and crabs and all sorts of star fish. The water there is great and most the time you can snorkel in the grass beds and hand pick stuff. I've also swam with a large school or 3 ft snook and been approached by black and white tip reef sharks 4+ ft tarpon and rays with over 5 ft wing spans. There is alot in ur own backyard if u go look for it.

just FYI dont talk about owning undersized gamefish on this site. it is patrolled.
