Filet-O-Fish: McDonald’s Most Overlooked Sandwich

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Welcome to MFK, where we talk about fast food in a random bot thread
.....and,seven pages?... this is nothiin, another forum I'm on has threads that regularly derail into various food debates...for pages on end so it looks like, there's hope for this place afterall LOL!

I couldn't agree more with Ogertron3000 Ogertron3000 about eating at independently owned restaurants as opposed to McD's. We have one in the nearby town where we do our normal shopping, coincidentally owned by a Greek fellow who employs his wife and daughters in the place. Fish'n'chips, souvlaki, steak sandwiches, perogies, gyros, Caesar salads, pizza, etc...all served in huge portions and all absolutely delicious. The place is a hole in the wall, I've only actually eaten inside a handful of times, but we takeout from there at least weekly. The fish in summer are fresh from the lake a few hundred yards distant. My mouth waters just thinking about it. :)

My wife is the opposite, she worked at KFC when she was younger and thinks the amount of procedures and rules they have guarantees the food will be more hygenic. I doubt a bunch of stoned teenagers on minimum wage are following the rules to the letter all the time.

It looks like you have far more options for fast food chains over in the U.S and canada, we have the big four of mcdonalds, hungry jacks (burger king rebranded), KFC and red rooster. Subway is here too but has been struggling financially for a few years, Carls JNR arrived a year ago and already the whole company has gone bust. We do have an amazing range of small independent takeaway shops from immigrants all over the world so there is always something new to try.

I was away for work for a few days this week, yesterday i had a mcdonalds breakfast meal at 6.30am in a small country town actually eating in the restaurant and reading an actual paper newspaper for the first time in ages while a mad thunderstorm raged outside and i must admit it was an enjoyable meal and experience.

Isolated incident of course....I worked at a KFC years ago and one of our coworkers was caught in the storage area pleasuring himself with a piece of raw chicken breast.....so much for rules, procedures and hygiene!

Bloody hell. What a wanker

Raw chicken's as dodgy as hell, I'd have thoroughly cooked it first!

And as far as procedures and rules go? Does it really say in the manual, "No pleasuring yourself with raw chicken in the storage area?" I doubt it, lol.

From a health and safety aspect it should state quite clearly in the manual, "If you must pleasure yourself in the storage area with our lovely chicken, be sure to cook it thoroughly beforehand".

.....agreed,with all of that LOL!

....agreed,with all of that LOL!

....and of course it goes without saying that there should be a totally separate sub section in said manual to clearly state what happens with the "soiled" cooked chicken after the event!

I think we'd both be in agreement there krich that that is unarguably the most critical aspect to consider, especially from a would be diners perspective!

In fact, next time I'm in McDonald's I may ask the manager if I could possibly have a look at their health and safety manual, just to be sure they've all bases covered, lol.
