Recently I've lost my 2 foot long silver Arowana to a silicone failure in my center aquarium brace (more info in my other post) ever since then....early yesterday. now I feel as though I am missing something in my tank this may be too soon to replace him as he was my favorite fish however I am not looking to do so I am only looking for another fish to raise my spirits a bit. So I have some options. It would have to go into my 180 whatever it was but I have a 1,700 or so gallon heated pool for the fish to go in in the future. I was thinking another silver. Or a jardini but I never kept a jar before and I wouldn't know the first thing about them however I know about silvers. Another option that I've been wanting to try was peacock bass if you guys have any other recommendations please tell me I want a new fish that will sort of fill the void that my arowana left :( so should I go for a jardini another silver or a few p bass :) any other suggestions are welcome

Datnoids are fun and get big, black aro would be cool, pbass would be cool and theres a lot of cheap kels and azuls going around right now. Or, if you want to step into some uncharted territory for yourself, get a black wolf or any hoplias wolf specie

Are black wolfs legal in California ?

They are pretty vague. For example in Nevada (which appears to be mostly based off Californias - copy cat lawmakers) it lists Hoplias Malabaricus but not Hoplias Aimara or Curupira (black wolf). It does say any "tiger fish" which I hope they didn't mean to be "Wolf fish" but I think its too vague to uphold as long as you don't keep Mala.

what's your current tankmate situation for the future fish ?

Well my 180 will soon be empty as my RTC is going in the pool as soon as I can get water conditions and everything stable so what ever I get will pretty much have the tank to its self
