Filling tanks to rims

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is a very interesting thread. I keep my tanks filled almost to the top just below the rim. To me it looks better and it's MORE WATER. My Pbass splash the mess outta me at feeding time but i think it's worth it. I try to feed them as the Mrs is walking by so she gets a splash too.

To the top, I hate seeing the water line!

For every larger (50+ gallon) tank I keep, I use either a powerhead or air stone for gas exchange/surface agitation and current.

Being splashed is a part of keeping monsters ;)

I keep the water filled enough so I can't see the waterline, behind the rim. I don't have a choice on my 75 though, because of the corner overflow. The water level is above the bottom of the trim though, so its fine.

To the OP: if you want more airation, adding a powerhead and aim it towards the surface, or get a bubble thing.

Above the trim so you can't see the water line.

all the way to the top so far :)
