i'm curious to know how everyone refills their tanks during water changes?
i do the simple run the python back to the tank, fill it up with the water-heat feeling the same, and adding amquel as i go. i pour aquarium salt in the overlow box to so there's no chance of it getting eaten. i've never had a problem doing it this way, have just stumbled on a few posts of people running the water through sumps, etc. and was curios to know other ways. treating it in buckets prior just seems way to time consuming, especially on larger tanks, and my 75% weekly changes. the water is pretty hard here too

im curious to how everyone does it myself. currently on my office tank i condition the water in a container and then pump back in to the tank. a cold water hose is the only water supply i can use so i have to worry about temp as well as dechlorinating. now with my new tank at home i can regulate the temp so was wondering how many people dechlorinate as they put back in the tank directly from the tap.

i did a water change sunday in my 55 gallon. i filled up 3 buckets and put a liiiittle stress coat in them and let them sit over night. i emptied about 30% out of the tank and just kept refilling the buckets after i used what was already in them. then added the right amount of stress coat back in the water. wasnt very time consuming..

I dont condition or heat the water going into my tank after a WC at all, but then again i have really big sturdy fish. It dosn't seem to bother my fish, i fugure this because they get brighter colours and more active after a WC. Prob someting to do with local tap water.

I use the good old python to remove and refill the water. I add prime before I fill it though.

Soon I will have the drip system installed and I won't have to do water changes. All I will have to do is gravel vac the bottom.

Is the water where you are chlorinated?

5 gallon bucket. Doesn't take long as I normally only change 30-40 gallons at a time. In the future when I hopefully have several tanks at a couple hundred gallons a piece, I'll definitely set up a drip system.

I just add the amount of prime for the full volume of the tank and then add water with the python. it works fine for me, although don't do it with tanks under 29 gallons, since buckets are fine for that

Python for draining and refilling. NO temperature adjusting just cold water. And I add dechlor while its refilling. No problems ever.
