I use the felt bags with the metal ring, and the felt seamless bags with the plastic ring. I got different types, and different microns (200 micron and I think 150 micron), and I see no difference at all in water clarity.

Im gonna get 10 100 micron. I guess felt it is

Maybe get both because agree i dont like the 200's either. I dont mind swapping them out more frequently. The overflow has two bulkheads so gonna be 2 socks in the sump

how many filter sock or socks you use in your sump?? if 1 than i would get 5 x 100 micron and 5 x 50 microns in case you want your water to cleaner.. i like 50 microns more than my 200s..

I'd recommend 100 and 150, or 150 and 200. 50 micron is mighty fine

The polypropylene seem to last longer. The polyester ones shed a lot in washing machine. I get the heavy duty long life ones. They are thicker and catch more stuff. Once they begin to clog some they start catching smaller particles. I use 100 micron.

in that case, i would get 6 of each socks.. 100s and 50s.. best to have the plastic rings for the socks so i write the date i place them so i know how many times i have used the socks... when i seen enough dates on the rings i would just throw them out.. usually i use them 3 times and their garbage..

I use mostly the felt welded seam 50s from McMaster as well as some 100s. I have a couple 1s that I like to use when I really dig around in the tank or rearrange stuff, 24hrs is all I've managed to get out of these.
