Filter Brands?

Eheims are suppose to be the best from what I hear. I can't afford one at the moment.

almost all cannisters are going to have too much flow for a 30 gallon planted tank. If I WAS going to still use one...I'd stick with a fluval 205 and a spray bar return. Eheims are nice filters but they are overhyped and overpriced IMO...

i would like to have a filter where i could put the heater in it to save some space. I cant find anyone that has a eheim 2322. Where could i get one.

Depending on how your return the water to the tank this is not necessarily true. I have used a Rena XP3 on a 20g planted. I just plumbed 2 spray bars out of those fittings you can buy at petsmart and it didn't disturb any of my plants. IMO, go with Rena, they may not have the neato functions (like auto-shutoff to "disperse" trapped air.....) but I have NEVER had one break (can't say the same for Fluvals) and you'll thank that decision when it comes time to clean the filter.
