Ok. I still want to know why he switched.

I disliked the intake and output that came with the fx6 and had a leak problem similar to yours. The vinyl hose+pipe clamps are much more secure and reliable but I had this running through drilled bulkheads in my tanks.

Another idea, how about just trimming the broken end and reattach it to the fitting? You may have to elevate the fx6 a bit to compensate for the trim.

I think the problem with this idea is the ribbed section of the hose doesn't fit snugly over the fitting and leaks, the rubber sleeve portion does and makes a secure seal.

They didn’t have the tubing I needed, so I got the plastic clear tubing and a couple of plastic clamp-like things (not sure what to call them). I’ll see how this works out. Help is appreciated!

How did you get it to go downwards in the tank? It keeps kinking.

If I have the pipe in the right way, it doesn’t leak, or it leaks marginally. I am going to try and superglue it temporarily to find a new solution, perhaps with pvc pipe going into the tank.
