Okay what if I took a 5 gallon buck. Drill holes in the sides. Put bucket in the 75 gallon tank. Fill the tank up to the 4 gallon mark. Fill the bucket with 2 gallons of K1. Airline inside the bucket. Thoughts? Would I still need baffles? Im thinking about adding bio rings on the outside of the bucket

I would build a full k1 moving bed.make one baffle beside your pump and your done.
What I have done as you can see in the picture, one piece of acrylic with about 600 holes that are smaller the the k1 5/16 (.3125) so the k1 can't get into the next chamber and behind that is a piece of glass to designate the water hight before my drip tray. It works great

I've heard that K1 is best in a cylinder container though

Not true you can make it work you have to keep the air flow directed so the k1 will not get stuck in the corners. I have no issue with k1 getting stuck in the corners in my filter it took a while and a few different air stones to get it right.

I have a 65lpm pump on my chamber
Yeah I guess just depends on the setup my tank is dead quiet can't hear anything. My 10 gallon is louder because of sponge filters. I have filter floss with custom tray to take out and bio balls and plants and fry in my sump
