wrong filtration is turn over but mostly filtration capacity you could have 1000000 gph going through a litre of media and it wont be nearly enough

Well if you are talking about bio media.

It is all about how many times per hour a molecule of water passes thru the media. Up to an extent.

You can increase turn over rate and make up for a lack of media. By increasing the number of passes the media see's the water in a hour you will increase the filtration capacity.

So 1gph and 1,000,000 liters of media would be the best filter ever?

So it would take 270 hours for the OP's water to be turned over one time in theory only. Sounds like a bunch of dead fish.

You have to have a balance. And turn over rate is your tunning factor. Not enough media and you turn up the flow. More than enough media and you can safely turn it down to as little as 2-3x per hour with no problems.

iam thinking of going for the oase filtral 5000 uv one , every thing is built in. it like a internal filter. will it be to powerful for my tanks.

Dimensions (L x W x H)
380 x 290 x 170mm
Voltage
230V / 50Hz
Cable length
10 metres
Power Consumption (pump +UVC)
(24 + 11) 35 watt
Turnover rate per hour, max. (pump +UVC)
1100 litres
Maximum head height
2.3 metres
Outlet size
1/2 inch /12.5 mm
Filter surface area
564 cm²
Max. volume for ponds with gold fish
2500 litre
Max. volume for ponds without fish
5000 litres

1100 liter per hour = 290gph

so if you used maybe 3-4 of them per tank that would be considered a OK amount of filtration for a 270 gallon tank.

Remember ----try to match your filters to the turn over rate you need. \

6-8 times per hour or around 2000+ gallons per hour of filtration. if you are using canisters still.

Big tanks cost big money to set up properly. There is a reason that not every one has a 500g tank.
