Filter for the New Guys

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want this discussion to be for the newer people that perhaps don't know so much about Proper Filtration...

I want to discuss the Marine Land 400
Please explain how often biowheel changes should occur...if ever

What type replacement filters are used what type of media is replaced...

What works best for you and your setup

*Please don't use Acronyms or Abbreviations Plain English will help in clarification*

I'm still new and I will be posting several topics like this from time to time in order to help myself and others that are new to the hobby...Let us not forget we were all new at one time or another and to Benefit ourselves and our Fish.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

my advise would be to never mess w/ wheels.... when cartriges are real dirty and are hard to rinse, buy some blue/white bonded filter media(again marineland product)and use it in the clamshells,: and take the used cartridges and strip them of media and dump carbon ...then use more of the b/w bonded media up against the back side of plastic frames(of the cartridge).. current should hold media in place...:)
