If your tank consistently has zero ammonia/nitrites currently... what benefit could adding another filter stuffed with bio media offer?

I suggest either using it as a polisher or savign the cost/effort of running it and leave it in the closet...

Adding "more bio media" to a tank that consistently has zero ammonia/nitrite makes absolutely no sense...

Unless you believe that some of the bio medias are capable of housing anaerobic bacteria in oxygen rich water, which just doesn't happen...

i understand what your saying but please read my post above , my moray is eating more now than last week, 50% more and after 2 more weeks i dont think the bio load will hold anymore , 1 pound of octapus a day to 1.5 pounds and a red devil? His eating habbits have grown so much and i think he is on a grow spurt. thus leading me to the thought that i dont think my bio load will be able to handle it much longer. Not to mention my grouper eats .3 pounds of shrimp himself and triggers eat .1 pound , thats 2 pounds of food a day into the tank..... some people dont feed thier "monster" fish that in a week.

i was wondering for the media diy stuff , like bendi straws etc.... my rena xp4 could use some more media as well , one basket is empy. I dont run carbon (empty basket)

So stuff that i could get without going to the pet store , for my basket on the rena and that magnum... i have an airstone inside of the intake tube as well to put more oxygen into the filter , good idea? or a waste?

If you have an empty tray in your rena, put whatever you can find into it that has a high surface area-to-volume ratio. I have 2 trays full of plastic bottle caps in a canister. They have a ton of surface area due to all those 'grip' ridges.

Anything will work. Run a milk jug through a shredder (or use scissors). Use gravel. use plastic forks, whatever.

Just make sure its clean when you put it in.

Does your water testing confirm your thoughts??
Are you showing raising ammonia levels?
I think your fish eat more than I do….:D
