Got me a new 75 gallon tank and stand a few days ago and fixing to get it up and going. I'm going to be using one of the Designbynature backgrounds and rocks in the tank because I just love the more natural look they develop in the tank. I have already got a XP1 that I got off of craigslist for a good deal. Now i'm trying to decide on the 2nd filter option for the tank. Here is what i'm looking at and give me your suggestion please. I like option one because of the less tubes in the tank and ease of maintenance and then again i like option 2 because of the UV option....decisions decisions lol.

Stock: HRP Breeding pair, Fire Eel to grow out for my 220, Large Tetras, Bichir maybe

Option 1: (2) Ac 110's (one setup up bio, the other mech), (1) Rena XP1
Option 2: (1) Aquatop 500 with UV, (1) Rena XP1
Option 3: Your options to give me

I love sump filters, and you would be able to easily make a 10g sump for a 75g. They require less cleaning and provide good aeration to the tank as well as the ability to put heaters and other mechanics in it and have less clutter in the tank itself. Just my opinion though.

I forgot to mention that the stand is going to hinder a sump for me because it's in 3 compartments or I would put a sump on it in a heartbeat like all my tanks usually have. My 220 has one on it and this stand just won't give me that option.

Voted for ac110's. These filters last for decades.

You gotta realize that you've got to work around the background. If it's thick, a HOB won't fit on the back, and will look weird anyway.

since you already have the XP1, use it and add a ac110? This way you have a filter incase one fails.
