I don't know about clowns but when I was on vacation my brothers circulation pump got unplugged on accident and his pearl scale butterfly died. I'm gonna say no, get your filter cleaned and use that

I have a kent marine algae scraper and that thing can get hard algae off for me...

soak it in vinegar for a couple of hours it will wipe clean

hard algea = bad algea ! keep on that ! Some vinigar works well...

I have to disagree with that statement Coraline algae is hard algae it grows in several different colors I have in my own system pink, purple and green Coraline it is a sign of good calcium levels.I am willing to bet he is referring to Coraline it seems to grow fastest on plastic equipment

Guys, I plugged in my filter and it wasn't working after I cleaned it... I also tried the vinegar trick but I poured a whole load of vinegar in but there was so little vinegar. I'm certain my clowns can withstand 2 weeks without power heads, I came back from holidays one year to find my previous filter had been clogged with algae from an algae infestation and they were fine. I'll try my luck, Clowns are the hardiest species I've ever kept So I'm sure of what I previous said.
