I just set up a second tank as a quarantine tank if I ever need I rather be safe and prepared for future events. Anyway I got a Tetra Whisper EX30 and set it up on the tank. It is making a very loud noise that sounds like maybe something might be lose I the motor or something. I have a Tetra Whisper Ex70 on my main tank and it is very quiet and keeps my tank clean. I was wondering if anyone might know the problem. I have pool filter sand as a substrate in my 20gallon long and yes I rinsed and rinsed till it was clear then rinsed it more after that. I will try to upload a video to let someone see if they can pinpoint the noise. The video I am uploading lets you hear the sound but it doesn't sound 100% like it does in person all the noise from the video comes from the EX30 Whisper on my 20gallon long the EX70 on my 45gallon makes zero noise.

I can't seem to find out what the noise on this filter is I have taken the propeller out and put it back in and still doesn't solve the problem and have started it back up and let it run for awhile still has noise. I think I am just going to end up returning this one, sadly I had to return another one today because it was missing pieces this was a Marineland don't know the model. But can anyone recommend a filter for a 20gallon that is quiet and will keep the tank clean prefer a HOB.

I have an aquaclear 50 on my 20g qt, dont think the 70 would be too much. Another option is a sponge filter.

good choice...

AquaClear filters are by far my favorite hob. They look snazzy, have so much potential in media change ups and are so quiet.

Wise choice!

Yea I think I will be switching my Tetra EX70 for a AquaClear eventually I really like this filter. Would a AC110 be to big for a 45gallon Tall? Or maybe the 50 or 70? I don't know a whole lot about filters so would be cool to get a heads up on this for the future.
