filter media

doesn't look much different then a pot scrubbie... same w/ the K1.. I was looking into better bio-medias ( hate chemical filtration myself and my focus on bio and mechanical.) But 1$ for 1$ I'm more then happy with what the cheapo pot scrubbies can handle. I have one tower and about 200 scrubbies for my 1k pool thinking i'de need another tower but all I need is more circulation because the one small tower keeps my water perameters just fine.. i'm not 100% happy with my flow in the pool. so I need another pump not to do better filtration but more water circulation itself. and I prefer trickle wet/dry filters to the reactors ime bio-media gets limited by O2 before anything else. may as well make use of the air vs waters o2 levels. but I do have a smaller area in the bottom for 100% submersion in case the power goes out ect I have a remaining colony to keep going/instant re-seed with. ends up iir about 80%trickle/20%submersed..

A trickle type setup would be much more feasible than trying to do a rolling bio-reactor. The reactor container would need to be very large and would require quite a bit of air to get the desired effect.

Looking over that second brochure I would try HD Q-PAC® , NUPAC® , or LANPAC® in a trickle tower. I didn't see specs on the HD Q-PAC® but it may require a slightly reduce flow rate compared to the others just from the looks of it.

MarinePure by Cermedia works very well. Has tons of surface area. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

the second brochure is the stuff that i have available to me. i have already bought a few boxes of balls and k1 with the addition of all the balls and k1 that i currently have running. so the buying and searching for media for the 2 drums is already decided and bought. this is just stuff that kinda fell on my lap. i can add the 3rd drum very easily so i figure why not type of deal. the 2 drums should be plenty of media for what its going on but i like to use as much and as diverse as i can get.

this way like stated if power goes out and i dont get to my generator in time the k1 is still good but tower suffers. or if i have to add meds and need to turn air off so i dont dump all of the k1 on the floor it will suffer but tower is still good kind of thing.

i always hear different types of bacteria grow on different surfaces so i try to get as many as i can into my sump. current set up has bio reactor, wet/dry, bio balls, k1, ceramics, pot scrubbies. works good but i would like to get away from the scrubbies. i think out of all the media it probably is the hardest to clean. so i want new set up easy to clean and diverse as well.

i just wanted others suggestions and thoughts on the media i have available cause i have never really seen it before and yeah everything helps but im kinda 50/50 on it if its a waste of time and good real estate or not.

and thank you everyone for your comments so far. please keep them coming.

Not a expert on filtation but you reminded me of seeing darins set up a old member on her he had what looked like a big block of that ceramic media in a 800 gal pond and a drip system that was it and this pond was packed with rays. Might be good idea
