I've had my tank set up for about 2 years now with 2 Tetra Whisper Power filters for 10-30gallon tanks. Between 2 of them they've never really done a good job at filtering the gravel. It helped a little when I took out about a third of the gravel but it's still not filtering as good as I would like it to.
I tried a penn plaxs undertow undergravel filter for maybe 3-4 months along with the 2 whispers but that really didn't do anything for me either and I really hated the way the filter sat on the bottom of the tank.
I do about a half tank change every 2 weeks but my tank isn't really clearing up. If I don't vacuum up all of the fish poop it just sits there, the filters I have now really doesn't seem like its doing anything. I'm thinking about removing the gravel all together until the tank can filter itself out or getting larger rocks/sand or something.
Any recommendations for me would be greatly appreciated. If you can give me a price range on how much the stuff you're telling me about costs and where the best place is to buy it (link me.) Thanks
