Filter Recommendation Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 XP3's will def work.... I also have a couple of Hydor Koalias to help with the water flow to clean up the debris on the sand. Another option for that would be an UGJ system...they seem to work great!

Alright,thanks for the help guys!

Its a hell of a show tank. What is your stock going to be? I am trying to stick strictly with low noise canisters, I currently have a aquaclear 70 and a wet dry running with a 1300 gph pump which is more than enough for the tank but i am trying to keep it quiet and the wet dry does not help. I am not sure which canister i should get for a tank of this size since most people say get two for redundancy but i wanted to go with only one fx5,so its either two rena xp3's or 2 fx5's i guess.

fx5 are great, but out of my price range. That's why I'm going for 2 cascades, either 1000 or 1200s, plus the twin emperors.

I load up a rough sketch of what I plan to do... give me a minute or two.

In all honesty, Why not go with 2 Fluval 405s? I have a 405 and 305 and they don't make a sound...

I have the 405 on a 75 gal with an AC110 and an AC70. The 305 is on a 55 also with an AC70.

Because i have had a fluval 305 already and i think its time to step up, i am one of those people that like to buy the best they can. I think i am going with one fx5 and if i need more filtration i will just add another in the future. and btw redearsunfish, very nice plan. And with gold fish as your stock the filtration you will have will be more than enough. I think you will actually waste more money by getting all those filters and not a fx5, you can get one for $230 with free shipping on ebay, i just checked.
