I searched around a bit, but didn't run into anything that really applied.....

I'm setting up a 37 gallon, probably going to stock it with some dwarf cichlids once it cycles out.

I've currently got a 20 long with a UGF and Power Filter...its worked really well for me so far. I was thinking about just adding another powerhead to the UGF and running the same power filter with the 37gal. I'm moving, so the 20 long is getting broken down totally.

This take did take quite a while to fully cycle with this setup, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on filtration for this type of setup.

Thanks!

I would go with a big HOB too.

I would go with a big Aquaclear 110. The problem with ug filter is over time there is a build up of rotting debris under those plates that you can't siphon out which leads to ammonia problems!

Agreed, an AC110 would be the easiest and most cost effective way to good filtration for a 37g. Don't underestimate UGFs though.

So, ditch the UGF and just use a large power filter?

i would still keep the UGF and at the same time the HOB AquaClear 110. the more filter the better. if one goes out at least you have another one back-up and have more beneficial bacteria which you can benefit you. meaning you can put more fish but not too much.:D

:iagree: You will see when you break down the 20 how much accumulated debris there is under the plates. Two years ago I broke down some tanks that were setup with UGF for a couple of years, I vacuumed regularly, but you cannot get all the detritus with vacuuming. Get a big HOB, AQ or Emp and keep the substrate shallow.
