Filter/s for 90 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could probably build a DIY wet/dry sump for ~$100. Look up the tutorials for building a rubbermaid wet/dry in the DIY section.

Guys, he's in Australia. AU$100 = US$85, so the choices are even more limited.

Miguel4u2 - I calculated the shipping on that Jebo filter just for a laugh. The 'buy it now' price is US$75, but shipping to Australia would be US$175 :)

My suggestion is to have a look for second-hand canisters on gumtree.com.au, ebay and the trading post. You should be able to pick on up for less than $100 and that will tide you over until you've got a little more money to play with.

Well you have a budget, try eBay. Here is a great filter http://cgi.ebay.com/JEBO-829-839-Ex...in_0?hash=item518891ebc1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

This will filter your 90 gallon just fine.

A "396" gallon per hour canister filter will have an actual flow rate of approx 200 gallons per hour... and while I agree/understand there is a lot more to filtration than flow rate, flow rate is an important factor... and 200 gallons per hour is a mere fraction of what a 90 gallon tank will need for helathy filtration...

That Jebo filter may be a decent filter to use, but will definitely need support of other filters...

Actually, I'm in Hawaii.

Thanks for the info, and internet page, I will get a AC110, and use what's left to get the best possible filter for that money.

You should mention the size / age of the discus... as there is a massive difference in the filtratoin needs between 12 discus fry and 12 adult duscus...

Amazon.com has 110's for 75 bucks. I have two ACs and they are nosy with the lid on due to vibration, but so much better than Aqueon, Tetra, or Whisper. SO MUCH.

Sponge filter + air line = cheap and great.

Seriously, you don't need to overdo filtration. As long as ammonia and nitrites are 0 and WCs for nitrates!
