Filter sounds like it’s struggling

I have two Fluval AC 110's & two Emperor 400's. Like both models.
The AC's make a little more noise. Both provide quality filtration.

Actually I do have the Emperor 400....forgot to correct that above. I took the impeller out and cleaned it and it’s not making the noise anymore. If I were to upgrade, I’m thinking the Fluval 407. But since I got the noise to stop, I’ll stick with what I have for now. Thanks for the advice ??

I am glad it worked for you. The Penguin and Emperors are both good filters, operating on same principles. Main difference is size and the use of spray bars on Emperors. I have never had Emperors, but have liked Penguins, simply because I acquired them used and continued to fix them, with DIY sponge and Biomax noodles.They are quite reliable IMHO. However, AC 110's are my favorite HOB's by far.
