My xp4 canister filter broke so I came up with a cheaper alternative that sits on top of my 125g.
I used the water pump which I already owned and connected it to a hose that I already owned.
The pump shoots the water through a hole I cut into the water jug I bought at Walmart.
Inside the water jug is all the biomedia, and prefilter I used in the Xp4.
I let gravity push the water back into the tank. But I put a valve at the end of the spout so I can close the filter when I need to service the filter or the tank.
