Hi guys this is my first post. I have a quick question, I have a 75 gallon tank with a 10 inch oscar 4 3 inch silver dollars and a 8 inch sydontis. They've all been getting along great. My canister filter broke and I need another soon. What would you guys recommend I don't have a tight budget. I'm eyeing the fluval fx5 the marineland c530 and the fluval 406, but again I'm open to any suggestions you have thanks :)

I've never used anything but fluval, no real reason for that. Just like em I guess. I'm currently running the FX5 on my 90 gallon tank, it's pretty quite, and adds pretty good ciculation to my tank, and maintenance on the unit itself is fairly simple. I have a fluval 305 on a 65 gallon tank, it has the little stick thing you have to pump for half a damned hour to start it, so the selfpriming on the fx5 is awesome. I will say I had an issue with the amount of micro bubbles it was releasing into my tank at first, but it eventually quit after a few days and I have not had a problem since.

I'd go with an Fx5. I got one and it's by far the best canister filter I've ever owned.

Eheim also makes reliable filters.I have a 2217 and 2028

If you want to save some $$$, you can get a HOB filter with a sponge filter. Either way, I think everyone should run a sponge filter as a backup no matter what they use as a primary filter.

I WOULD DO THE AC110(aqua clear) +SPONGE FILTER COMBO...save some dollars and you can use the media from your old filter in the ac110 to "seed" it...good luck....
