filteration for 210g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The purpose of the sponge is to remove as much particulate waste as possible. Cleaning the sponge for 2-3 minutes under hot tap water removes all the waste from the sponge. There is biomax in the AC110s and a canister packed full of biomedia. Ammonia zero, nitrites zero, so not having enough bio is not a problem.

The better your mechanical, the more waste you can pull out of the tank. Before it breaks down into ammonia, this leads to lower nitrates.

What's the power comsumption on the return pump in your sump?

I have a surge 6000 return on my 150g which is 60watts this uses more power then my 180 with xp3(28 watts) and two AC110s(14 watts each)

Not that I wouldn't run a sump on this tank if I could, it's in the bedroom and the wife said the sump was to noisy:screwy::irked:

I have solved this problem with my big tanks by sticking 2 or 3 Aqua CLear filters on each...These guys are "miracle mechanical" workers...As for as biological filtration on a big tank, nothing is more reasonable than a sump...
Would like to Build a sump but i really don't have the time now and for the time being it would be easier to get a FX5, then put filter floss in my two canisters that would make the water super clear...:D

Why tap water? You are wiping out that "extra" bacteria. Why not a bucket of tank water to preserve it?

Once I get my siphon flowing through the python,I turn off the tap water and just rinse out my sponge under the running tank water, that way I won't kill off any of the BB. ;)

This is a good idea, tried it thismorning, water flow was too weak to effectively clean the AC110 spounge. This would probably work on the emporer filters though, they are thin and don't release as much filth. However the emp cartridges need replaced periodically so at that point you are throwing away your BB.
